James was born on the 22nd of October 1951 in New Zealand. He pursued his career in acting and playwriting and he was also a graphic artist as well. James grew up in Lower Hutt and he had his education at Hutt Valley High School. James was not an actor when he invited his career, he went through a lot before getting in theatres. He started working as a labourer in a factory in order to win bread. After that, he drove a truck as well. While he was working, he used to spend time studying s well and studied Graphic design as well for one year. In 1975 he initiated his career in the acting field while working at Wellington’s Downstage theatre.

Back in 1988, he moved to Australia where he settled won with his family and established his career in the acting field. He is the father of actress Jessica Napier, and actor Reuben Napier. James Napier Robertson, the famous director is James’ nephew. James took part with her daughter in a show called who wants to be a millionaire and won around 64,000 dollars. James and his daughter donated this money to an animal rights group in South Australia. James and his daughters are both animal lovers and they both fights for animal rights as well. Until now James’ family has not spoken about his demise and neither has his team. James passed away as a result of brain cancer at the age of 70.
