University of Alabama VP of Student Life arrested on soliciting prostitution charge Alabama vice president for student affairs, Dr. Judy Bonner, was arrested Tuesday on charges of soliciting a prostitute and giving false statements to law enforcement. Bonner allegedly contacted an undercover officer via phone call and text message in order to arrange an encounter at a local hotel room. She had agreed to pay $200 for three hours with the officer, who she believed was a prostitute. When the two met Tuesday evening at the Hotel Capstone, they were both taken into custody by Tuscaloosa police. Bonner later told investigators that she had offered money in exchange for sexual services because she is “a lonely woman. She was released from custody Wednesday morning after posting a $5,000 bond.

A Tuscaloosa Police Department Patrol Officer was patrolling a known area for prostitution on June 19 when the officer observed a man later identified as Dr. Young in a vehicle in the parking lot near the intersection of 17th Street and Greensboro Avenue. The officer contacted Dr. Young who stated he had solicited a prostitute but she would not give him what he had paid for, so he assaulted her by grabbing her neck and attempting to pull her out of the vehicle. The University has now responded to this incident with a statement that they are conducting an investigation into these allegations, while simultaneously stating that they are taking steps to relieve Dr. Young from his position at the university until further notice.
